Look at the Fortune 500 after 1955. Only the Honorable 57 has weathered competitive turmoil and faster innovation in their industries. The others failed in time due to the increasing competition, failure of management, short-term corporate strategies and lack of innovation.
I believe that credibility is one of the vital factors in the success or failure of the management.
“Our business leader’s words are not correct. She has ‘yes-minister’syndrome. She only talks with her people. These people listen and approve each word and action of the leader. We have a lot of issues and they don’t bring any solution to them. I am sure that this company will face failure in the long-term due to the increasing competition, low productivity, decreasing market share and customer loyalty”. I am sure that many people witnessed such talks in different companies!
Leaders who inspire, motivate and engage their people to sustain a high level of performance, achieve a high degree of credibility.
Leaders who have confused set of values and beliefs and also behave and express inconsistently achieve a worse degree of credibility. Such bad leaders lose their all credibility in time.
Leaders who are manipulative, dishonest, aggressive, not trusted, game-player, blows with the wind, closed, subservient, poor learner and reluctant to change may achieve short-term credibility. In the long-term, the credibility will be diminished and people will perceive the leader as charlatan, false or hypocrite.
Leaders who are innovative, good learner and trusted achieve a high degree of credibility.
The leaders who think only money achieve a worse degree of credibility.
Leaders who do their own thing regardless of others achieve a worse degree ofcredibility.
Leaders who have discovered their own personal strengths, learned and improved their experience and knowledge in accordance with today’s and future innovative opportunities and created organizational alignment achieve a high degree of credibility.
- Credibility is a reflection of the degree of integrity a leader has in achieving the required results in systematic and competitive growth and profitability.
- Companies should work with leaders or experts who achieve a high degree of credibility. This will create an aligned and innovative organization, decreasing cost, increasing productivity, growth, profitability and customer value.
